A phobia is an emotional fear reaction by the Subconscious mind which aims to protect you from an imagined threat. Some are triggered by actual experiences but most phobias are simply an error made by the brain, a miscalculation which the conscious mind finds very frustrating because it knows that's an error, but the Subconscious does not. Fortunately, it nearly always just takes a single hypnotherapy session to sort this out.
I saw you on 22nd July for help with a phobia of motorway driving. You asked for some feedback so here goes... the evening after I saw you I had a quick drive up the M60, only one junction as I didn't really have anywhere to go! The nerves were still there but the sheer fact that I had been on a motorway was a brilliant thing!
When we got back home to Suffolk I left it a few days before driving on a motorway again... initially I was nervous but I kept going rather than coming off and those nerves died down. I have since found myself just looking for reasons to go for a drive and the more I do, the more confident and comfortable I feel. The one thing that echoes around my mind every time I drive is you telling me that I won't have a panic attack. Thank you so much for that.
I'd also like to add that since seeing you I have had the most vivid dreams every night! Quite often they are transport-related: I've been a pilot, a train driver etc.!! But mostly they're all just very strange! Is this common after hypnotherapy? Anyway thank you so much for seeing me, and the difference you have made to my life. Best wishes, Sam"
Dreaming is Subconscious thought, and when we do it in the day we call it daydreaming. Looks like Sam's Subconscious mind is trying out different driving roles! The same imagination that was previously holding back on driving has now switched to seeing Sam in charge of not only motor vehicles but also trains and planes as well! Cute.
