How Does Hypnotherapy Work for Weight Loss?

Sunday, August 5th, 2012

Simple: both appetite and cravings are controlled by the brain. Although we ‘feel’ these sensations in the body, they are triggered by the Subconscious mind. Weight loss drugs try to interfere with the pathways of these hunger signals, but drugs are dangerous and have side effects. Hypnotherapy is the only way to get detailed messages to the Subconscious mind quickly and effectively, so we can get appetite reduced naturally and safely. We can also ask for cravings to be shut down, or transferred from one object (such as cake) to another object (such as strawberries or fruit generally).

When you go on a diet, you try to resist the urge to eat the fattening foods using willpower, which is hard to sustain over time. In hypnotherapy, we simply change what you feel like eating, and reduce the overall appetite. If that sounds much easier and more fun, that’s because it is!

The Hypno-Gastric Band

I do NOT offer this treatment, because it is gimmicky and unethical. It involves telling the Subconscious mind something which is not true, and I don’t believe hypnotherapists should ever do that. Also, because the Hypno-Gastric Band treatment is faddy, it is ridiculously expensive and no more effective than what I’ve been doing with hypnosis for over a decade!

If you want to change your eating (or drinking) habits, get fitter and healthier and improve your enjoyment of life, call me (Chris) on: Office: 0161-474-8120 Monday-Friday 8.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., or call/text 07748 838 644 any day, any time. If my mobile is switched off, there is no need to leave a message as your number is logged automatically and I will return your call as soon as I can.

Hypnosis to stop drinking alcohol

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Hypnotherapy is the easiest way to stop boozing, as Carole found out seven months ago. This was her feedback from yesterday:

“Hi Chris, I’ve been meaning to contact you again for a while to give you a quick update… You may remember that I came to see you at the end of July for help as I wanted to stop drinking. It doesn’t seem that long since I came to see you but I have just realised that I actually haven’t had a drink for almost seven months, a world record for me! I had my first dry Christmas in many a year, nothing, not even a chocolate liquer, and I didn’t want it or miss it. Did a lot of driving though!

“I feel so much better, lost more weight, back at the gym, generally feeling more positive. I can’t describe how pleased I have been with the results of my hypnotherapy and also how easy it has been. When I came to see you I told you that I wanted to completely cut out alcohol for now but might want to drink again the future, family celebrations etc. At the moment I don’t think I will ever another alcoholic drink again, simply no desire to do so!

“Coming to see you was the best thing that I have ever done for myself.

Best wishes

Carole”

So before adding this message to the website, I contacted Carole to congratulate her and check it was okay to use her message as a testimonial, as I always do. She replied:

“Hi Chris

Yes, no problem. Can’t believe seven months has passed. I guess that must be a marker of success, that I am no longer counting days but now take as a given that I don’t drink!

Have a good day.

Carole”

Now, not all my clients want to stop drinking completely, but just cut down. We can do that too, but Carole’s story also proves that we can use hypnotherapy to stop drinking altogether, often in just one session, without the need for willpower. Would YOU like to be that successful in changing your drinking habit? Then call me on:

How do I stop drinking?

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

“How can I stop drinking alcohol?” is a question I hear all the time. Ask Catherine!

Catherine was feeling tired and toxic from her drinking habit, so she popped in to Central Hypnotherapy for a hypnosis session to shut down the habit and the usual cravings, which are actually just compulsive urges from the Subconscious mind. As it turned out, this was put to the test sooner than she expected, as her email below explains:

“Morning Chris! Thanks for Saturday, the session was wonderful. My hubbie had
forgotten to tell me we were going to a surprise party that evening but it
didn’t bother me one bit! Orange juice all night and I had a great time!
Again I feel like I have got my life back and I feel so happy! Will keep you
posted with my ongoing progress,
Catherine”

She said “again” because she has been to see me before about drinking – about a year ago – but recently started drinking again. Some do, some don’t… but it’s not a problem, we just shut it down again! Hypnotherapy does not “wear off” by the way, it’s just that a habit is a learned routine, and if the person chooses to drink again, it automatically re-starts, cravings and all. I know exactly how to fix that – and also how to reduce alcohol intake, for those clients who don’t want to stop altogether, they just want to cut out the excess.

Free From Tax on Alcohol and Tobacco

Friday, August 12th, 2011

They say that the only certainties in life are death and taxes, but death can be postponed by changing your lifestyle and some taxes can certainly be avoided by quitting the habits that the tax man penalises the most.

Did you know that 77% of the cost of a pack of cigarettes in the U.K. is tax? Or that £7.15 is charged in direct tax (duty) on a litre of whisky, then 20% VAT is added to the retail price on top of that, including 20% of the cost of the duty you already paid? Now add the tax you paid when you earned that money in the first place, and it becomes obvious that any taxpayer who smokes and drinks is being clobbered every which way by the government.

Of course, you could start a distillery of your own – and risk prosecution, or the danger of blowing yourself up like those guys in Lincolnshire did recently. You could avoid the tax by buying dodgy vodka with methanol in it, which can blind or kill you. You could resort to buying illicit tobacco, which has allegedly been found to contain contaminants like rat droppings and battery acid. But then, that shouldn’t bother smokers too much, since legal tobacco contains hydrogen cyanide and arsenic anyway, as well as about 400 other toxins.

Or you could – for the price of a single two-hour session at Central Hypnotherapy – shut down a drinking habit or a smoking habit, improve your quality of life and save yourself a fortune! After all, alcohol is a poison, tobacco is full of poisons and hypnotherapy is 100% safe and tax-free.

The testimonials that follow are all genuine, and all those clients gave written permission for them to be included here. Notice how they all seem rather surprised that they succeeded, and how easy it was with hypnotherapy. That’s because they – like you, perhaps – had already tried to stop smoking with other methods and didn’t succeed, so they were a bit doubtful about hypnotherapy before they tried it for themselves. That’s actually normal.

So why not call me (Chris) at Central Hypnotherapy on 0161-474 8120 (Office Hours) Mobile: 07748 838 644 (any time, including evenings & weekends) for more info or to book an appointment.

Sleeping better, losing weight, saving money too!

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

“Hi Chris

It was nice to meet you last week.

Just wanted to give you a quick update on progress so far… I am delighted
to say that I have not drank a drop of alcohol, nor had any desire to do so,
since I saw you ten days ago. I cannot describe how much better I feel and
how pleased I am with the outcome so far. I am sleeping better, losing
weight, and already noticing improvements in my health, which is all
positive…

Best of all is the freedom to do exactly what I want when I want/need to. I
am sure my daughter has clocked that something has been going on because I
have been around to give her lifts out at night/pick up etc. I was up at
the crack of dawn yesterday to drive over to Yorkshire, which of course I
wouldn’t have done a couple of weeks ago as I would have been worried about
being over the limit so wouldn’t have considered driving until the
afternoon.

At the moment I don’t feel like ever drinking alcohol again, but if I do
start to waiver I will be straight back to see you. Your fee has been the
best money I have ever spent, and I’ve almost already recouped that with the
money I saved so far!

Thanks again for your help.

C”

As always, I double-checked with my client that it was okay to publish this on my website, to which she replied:

“Yes, of course you may use my email as a testimonial. I will send an update in a few weeks.”

If you would like to be in a position to report this sort of success, all you need to do is call me (Chris) at Central Hypnotherapy on 0161-474 8120 (Office Hours) Mobile: 07748 838 644 (any time, including evenings & weekends) for more info or to book an appointment. You’ll be glad you did!

…and an update!

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

This came in today, as an addition to the last happy message!

Hi Chris,

Just thought i would drop you a line and let you know how i am getting on. I still haven’t had a drink! It is nearly 4 weeks and i haven’t even thought about it! Amazed with the results and feeling really good… !

Question: Why do people drink alcohol?
Answer: To change the way they feel, right? For the BETTER, presumably!

So how come all these clients tell me they feel fantastic when they STOP? It’s an interesting question, isn’t it? But of course, no-one feels like that when they try to quit the willpower way, they feel twitchy and stressed out and they usually end up drinking again. Hypnotherapy really changes that, and without any effort from the client! Cool, isn’t it? Everything we do with hypnotherapy is like that.

Yet another success with alcohol!

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

“Hi Chris,

Just thought i would leave some feedback for you with regards to the session we had on Thursday.

I haven’t touched a drop all bank holiday! I went out to the Warehouse Project which as you may or may not know is basically an underground rave… not the best place to go usually if you aren’t drinking! But it was absolutely fine! I was on redbull and coke all night.. as you said, there were people who were pressuring me to drink, but after a while it subsided, and they left me alone as soon as they realised they were not going to force me to drink. So – very successful!

I am not saying I will never drink again… however, the way I’m feeling at the moment, it won’t be any time in the near future! I have been attending the gym every morning and feel amazing. Again, thank you for everything, and I will update you again in a few weeks.

Thanks,

H****”

Not everyone wants to stop altogether, and indeed this client has chosen to take a complete break from drinking, then later re-introduce it in a reduced form. With hypnotherapy, you can do this. Without it, you would probably find that very difficult to do. Using the hypnotherapy approach, you have choices: you can stop altogether, you can stop for a while then just cut out the excess, or you can just cut out the excess. You decide! For more information call me (Chris) at Central Hypnotherapy on 0161-474 8120 (Office Hours) Mobile: 07748 838 644 (any time, including evenings & weekends) for more info or to book an appointment.

Update from Karen (note the joy)

Friday, August 6th, 2010

“Hi Chris – Happy Friday!

Just checking in – no need to reply to me, just want you to know…… DAY 14!!!!!!!!!!!   HURRAY!

And you know what’s even more fantastic………… I thought it would be difficult living without drink……. how wrong was I?

I feel absolutely wonderful and so positive!

I know I keep saying it but THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Will keep you posted!

Karen xxx”

Whilst it may be true that not every hypnotherapist can do these things – we tend to specialise in different issues and this happens to be one of my strong points, along with smoking, weight loss, drug habits and a few other things listed here on the site – the very fact that this CAN BE DONE with hypnotherapy – and in ONE session…. that’s all Karen has had, so far, and Angela, Mary and my legal friend, the barrister… these are just a few of many who have been here over the last decade… should make hypnotherapy the No.1 choice for the treatment of alcohol and drug habits, particularly in those cases where the individual is still quite functional.  That’s where hypnotherapy has its greatest and most immediate successes: in those people who fear that their life will fall apart, but it hasn’t yet. They’re suffering – and that’s their personal motivation for real change – but they are not finished yet.  Because I can tell you from long experience, it’s a hell of a lot more difficult for a hypnotherapist to get these brilliant results with someone who has already lost their wife, their kids, their business and most of their will to live.  But you know, all of that can be PREVENTED!  We just have to catch it at the stage where the person has genuinely suffered enough, and doesn’t want to suffer any more – but they still have a lot to live for.  Since that describes most people in the U.K. with a drink habit, there is a real solution here for any one of them if they only pick up the phone.

Office: 0161-474-8120 Monday-Friday 8.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., or call/text Chris directly on 07748 838 644 any day, any time.

Success! But should I be worried?

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

When people are new to hypnotherapy they aren’t always sure what to expect, not just with the experience of hypnotherapy, but the results too.  Yesterday I got this email update from ‘Karen’:

“I felt the session went really well.  I was surprised how awake I actually felt.  I went out that evening for dinner with my husband and some friends… I drank lime and soda and felt completely at ease when everyone else had beer and wine.  I actually had a lovely evening which is something I never thought I could do without a drink.

I have not felt like drinking since our session, which, although I know it is only a few days is fantastic, I think!  I’m really pleased with the results.  However, in one of the testimonials on your website a lady said she “shuddered” at the thought of a drink, I don’t feel like that, I just feel, well, I’m not really bothered about having a drink.  I’m therefore a little worried I may start the habit up again.  Should I be worried? Should I have stronger negative feelings towards alcohol?  Please don’t take this the wrong way, I’m absolutely delighted with not drinking.  I feel fitter, more alert, and I am sure it will result in a bit of weight loss!  I would welcome your comments if you could spare the time?”

So I reassured Karen that the other lady’s response was a bit out of the ordinary, most of my clients simply aren’t bothered about alcohol after a Stop Drinking session, so there was no need to worry.  It depends upon how the individual feels about the issue and Mary’s shudders were really about how much alcohol had frightened her and made her feel terrible on particular occasions, so after her session she was associating the thought of alcohol with those occasions, and that’s what made her shudder.  Even then, that reaction didn’t go on for long – Mary soon settled into simply not wanting to drink alcohol.  She’s still going strong!  That little reassurance was all Karen needed to hear:

“Phew! I feel much better now!  Thought I should feel repulsed by the demon drink lol! I am absolutely thrilled with the outcome!  I will just roll with it as you say.  I finally feel I have gained control of my life again and I am absolutely delighted with it.  My mind is clearer and I’m sleeping much better.  My only regret is that I didn’t come to you sooner!  I am more than happy for you to put any feedback on your website, but would not like my real name to be used please.  I will keep you in touch with my progress!

Best wishes, Karen”

As you may have guessed, Karen is not her real name.  Her real name is… just kidding!  Confidentiality is absolute here.  Angela wanted me to use her real name, and that’s okay too – it’s a matter of personal choice.  Another matter of personal choice is whether a person wants to stop drinking entirely or just cut down.  If you consult Alcoholics Anonymous, they will always insist that anyone with a drink problem is an “alcoholic” and must quit forever, and they’ll need the constant support of other “alcoholics”.  I say they know nothing about hypnotherapy and compulsive habits.  Do my clients sound like they’re struggling to you?

If you would like to adjust your drinking pattern or quit, just call us:
