Hypnotherapy stops the sugar 'addiction'
My chocolate-eating clients will often tell me that they crave chocolate at certain times of the day because their "sugar levels are low". They have become convinced that they are actually 'using' chocolate like a drug, that they need a 'sugar rush'.
Anyone who is thinking in these terms has bought the suggestion that chocoholics are literally addicted to chocolate, or addicted to sugar itself. But if this really were a true understanding of the situation, then my sweet-toothed clients would all suffer a period of uncomfortable physical adjustment (withdrawal) when the chocolate-eating suddenly ceased after the hypnotherapy session! Now, over the years I have helped hundreds of people to stop compulsively eating chocolate, but so far not one of them has reported any such thing. Quite the contrary: the usual reaction is delight and astonishment at just how effortless that change was.
Sugar is not truly addictive
Sugar is certainly damaging, and it causes tooth decay and weight-gain. But it is not an addiction, in fact the repeated impulse to eat sweet-tasting things like chocolate does not have anything to do with the contents at all. Although it is a physical urge, that impulse is triggered by the Subconscious mind. It actually has nothing to do with the sugar content, the cocoa content or any of the preservatives, stabilisers, emulsifiers or anything else in the chocolate. It is simply a prompt, based upon earlier memories and experiences concerning chocolate, and hypnotherapy can shut it down easily. And although your conscious mind knows already that chocolate is fattening, unless someone has told the Subconscious, it will be blissfully unaware of that issue.
Now, I am not suggesting that you should stop eating chocolate, that's not my job. But wouldn't it be convenient if you never felt any compulsive impulse to do so, and never felt like you were missing something? That we can easily achieve in a single session, and still have time for other useful changes too, relating to food and weight issues! more about this
