Most tobacco smokers smoke at any time, but a few only smoke when they drink alcohol. This may be because they started smoking in the pub and never developed the habit of smoking anywhere else - or it may be because they have quit, to a large extent, but smoking is associated with boozing and there is a temptation kicking in once alcohol gets into the system.
This proves what I have always argued about tobacco - that it is a compulsive habit, not a drug addiction as of course you can't just be addicted when you go to the pub! Many people can't smoke at work now, so they don't smoke all day but then smoke ten in the evening. Again, you cannot be unaddicted all day long and then suddenly addicted in the evening.
COMPULSIVE HABIT, NOT ADDICTION
Compulsive habits are routine behaviours that are repeated by the part of the brain we call the Subconscious Mind. When you make a conscious decision to quit, the Subconscious doesn't know, so it carries on sending the craving signals and trying to run the habit as normal. The conscious mind puts up a resistance (willpower), but the Subconscious is stronger than the conscious mind which is why everyone says: "It's hard to stop smoking".
DON'T DO IT THE HARD WAY!
All Daniel did was call me, turn up, and a couple of hours later, all done and dusted. Then later he went out for a drink:
"Had a drink on Saturday night, and didn't have a cig or want one, very pleased :)"
Typical 'bloke' feedback, minimal number of letters to convey essential facts of the matter. Women will tell me about their entire night and what all their friends said, but men just say: "All good. Ta!" or something like that. Either way, I'm happy, they're happy, and all their friends are astonished so it's another cool day at Central Hypnotherapy. more about this
