"Hi Chris, just wanted to let you know I haven't smoked since leaving the session on Monday and it's been an absolute doddle. I was really skeptical about it working as I was a heavy smoker but I am now certain what you do works. Can't thank you enough. Jon 14.03.20."
At the time, I forgot to ask Jon if it was okay to quote this feedback in a blog post, so I asked him today and he said:
"Yes definitely - I've still not smoked and I've also lost a stone in weight since my appointment. I thought I would put weight ON!"
Not with hypnosis you won't. The weight gain often associated with stopping smoking is not really anything to do with nicotine or the fact that you have quit the cigarettes. Any other method of quitting is really just using willpower to resist cravings, and the craving system also drives our eating behaviour, so some quitters try to feed those cravings away with biscuits, sweets or chocolate bars. And then they gain weight.
Hypnotherapy shuts down both the habit and the cravings at the same time, so you don't need any willpower ("it's been an absolute doddle") because there are no cravings at all after the hypnotherapy session, they just disappear along with the habit. Jon's weight loss is probably down to the fact that stopping smoking usually leads to a healthier lifestyle all round. People eat better and often become more active too.
Also, notice how the fact that we're going through some stressful times at the moment didn't cause any difficulties, and neither did the fact that Jon wasn't really expecting it to work anyway ("I was really skeptical about it"). This demonstrates yet again how you don't have to believe in hypnotherapy for it to be totally effective! more about this
