Unlike any other kind of therapy, hypnotherapy allows the expert therapist to get detailed information to the Subconscious mind of the client.
Hypnotists do not control people. If we could do that, we would rule the world, obviously. And obviously we don't!
Stage shows featuring hypnotism (stage hypnosis) make it appear as if a person in a hypnotic trance will do as they're told, but that's a clever illusion which relies on the fact that there will be some people in the audience - probably not many, but a few - who would LOVE to be on the stage.
If you, personally, would feel very reluctant to get up on the stage and be a part of the hypnotist's show, then you are a SPECTATOR by nature and would therefore feel much more comfortable being in the audience than in the spotlight. Natural-born PERFORMERS, on the other hand, would actually prefer to be in the limelight... in fact they are drawn to it, like moths to a flame. These are usually the people who put themselves forward for the Stage Hypnosis show.
Note: They don't have to do any of those things. They're doing it out of choice, and mainly because they want to be centre of attention. So the appearance of 'mind control' isn't real. It is NOT true to say that hypnotists control the minds of other people! But if that's the case, then how does hypnotherapy work?
Put simply, your Subconscious mind controls a lot of things, and usually gets everything right. But if you want to change something that your Subconscious mind is controlling, it doesn't know, and you have no way of telling it. This is true for all of us.
So we have found a way around this problem and we call it 'hypnotherapy'. Sometimes it is actually therapy... but usually it is just the simple, straightforward process of getting the right information to the right part of the brain! more about this
Does it matter how deep in trance the client is, or how deeply relaxed they are during the session? No. Not at all. All that matters is that they are fine with the proposed changes. That's it. It's as simple as that!
