"It has worked brilliantly! I may think about distractions and pick up something while I have a spare 10 seconds, or during a lull in a meeting, but I put it back down immediately... I feel I am back to my previous level of efficiency and probably even an improvement. I can tell I am more focussed and sharper. It's been a resounding success. Huge thanks. Paul." 4/8/21
You know when you've got work to do, but somehow you keep getting distracted, and even end up doing something like cleaning the cooker when you should actually be answering that important client's email as you are 'working from home'?
Paul knew this feeling very well. whether actually on-site, in his well-paid job or working from home, as he often does now, the appeal of YouTube or just feeling the need to go and get a chocolate bar from the vending machine, or yet another coffee, was driving him mad. Why couldn't he focus? What was causing all these petty distractions that ended up wasting half the working day, repeatedly robbing him of his available time and making him way less efficient than he should be?
I'll tell you. It was his Subconscious mind.
You see, it's your conscious mind that deals with responsibility, work commitments and career, because it deals with the outside world and it knows that we're on the clock, here, we are being paid to get this work done, and it feels obliged to uphold its end of the bargain.
The Subconscious mind - which is dominant, by the way, which is why I call it The Boss - didn't make that bargain so it feels no obligation to adhere to any such agreement because it knows nothing about it. But what it DOES know, is that when Paul sat down to tackle the important email, there was a definite emotional lull: a kind of flat resignation, a lack of enthusiasm that we all know very well, but the conscious mind was prepared to push past it, to get the chore done anyway.
Unfortunately, the almighty Subconscious mind has already recognised that "You don't REALLY want to to do this, do you?" ...so it very kindly gives you an 'out' by diverting your attention somewhere else!
I'm sure anyone reading this will recognise this very common experience. And it is easily fixed with just a single session of hypnotherapy, because all I have to do is explain to the 'very helpful' Subconscious mind that although it was technically correct in its recognition that we DON'T really want to answer the email, finish the report or start the new project, avoiding it is not the answer because it just wastes time and we will still have to do it anyway, but now we're running out of time and getting stressed about it!
The Subconscious mind never means to get anything wrong. So as soon as I have explained that we don't want to be constantly distracted from the job in hand, it STOPS DOING IT! more about this
Problem solved! So if you're experiencing the same sort of 'helpful' interruptions from your workshy Subconscious mind, why not give me a call? 0161 474 8120 (Office Hours), or call/text any day, any time on 07748 838 644. Works every time!
