Why do most of us take so long to get over emotional pain or trauma? When we get hurt in love, or mistreated by friends or family, why is it that we cannot stop thinking about it and just can't seem to get over it?
"Time heals all wounds", we are always told, but that brings little comfort when it hurts so much NOW! The fact is, we don't want to wait ages for 'time' to heal us, we want that broken heart mended as soon as possible!
"How can I do that though?" you may be asking yourself. Well, the truth is that there are some things we need help to do: professional help. Specialist knowledge.
Have you ever wondered why just talking about your emotional issues, either with friends or even with a counsellor, doesn't seem to make any lasting difference and can even leave you feeling worse? This is because the part of the mind that governs feelings - the Subconscious mind - is not even involved in the conversation! When we chat to others, in ordinary conversation, that's the conscious mind engaging with the world around us (its usual job). Feelings of hurt, anger or betrayal are generated by the Subconscious, which only engages with the world around us when we are in trance. So you can talk about it all night long with your friends, or have 12 counselling sessions, it won't change how you feel (or it would be very slow to do so).
One session of expert hypnotherapy though? Totally different ball game! You see, your conscious mind can't change the way you feel about anything - which is why you often hear people say: "I can't help the way I feel, can I?" or: "I can't help my feelings!" That's the conscious mind talking, freely admitting that it can't do anything about that. But your Subconscious can!
It needs guidance, though, because this part of the mind is not analytical: it can't work things out for itself. So my responsibility as a hypnotherapist is to explain to the Subconscious mind, via the hypnotherapy process, all the very same things that your friends (if they are wise and kind) have already said to you, probably - but they were talking to the wrong part of the mind! more about this
